Applesauce

Happy Hannukah! You can’t celebrate Hannukah without a bite of latkes + applesauce. This year, instead of getting store bought applesauce, treat yourself to this deliciousness. It takes no effort and you’ll have plenty for all eight nights, and beyond. Even if you don’t celebrate Hannukah, this would make a great side dish around the holidays or year round. What I love about this recipe is that there are still chunks of apples – texture! tastiness! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with friends and family! applesauce

Ingredients
Source: Me

12 apples, mix of braeburn and granny smith, peeled and chopped into 1-inch cubes
2 T. brown sugar
1 1/2-2 lemons
2 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 cup water

Directions

  1. Put all the ingredients in a large Dutch oven or crockpot. Using a spoon or your hands, mix the apples so they’re coated with all the other ingredients. Set the Dutch oven or crockpot to low heat and let cook for 3-4 hours – stirring occasionally –  or until the apples cook down but are still chunky. Tweak seasonings to taste. Serve warm, at room temperature or chilled. Store in airtight container in the fridge.

Voila!
