My high school didn’t start until 9 a.m. (yes, that was awesome). Occasionally before school, I would go to Starbucks with my parents to get breakfast. I would always order some type of frappuccino and coffee cake. My dad joked that I was having a milkshake and cake for breakfast. He wasn’t wrong, but I didn’t care! I’ve since lost a taste for strawberry or vanilla frappuccino’s, but the other day I tasted one again at Whole Foods (I love their samples) and was reminded how refreshing a simple “frap” can be.
Instead of going to Whole Foods, I figured I could make my own! I have an espresso machine, a blender, ice and milk. Perfecto!
NOTE: I like the slightly bitter taste of coffee. I drink my coffee and/or espresso black, so if you want your frappuccino a little sweeter, it might be worth adding a couple tablespoons of sugar to taste.
2 shots espresso
1 ½ cups ice
¾ cup almond milk (or whatever milk you have on hand)
optional: sugar, flavored syrup, chocolate syrup
1. Put all ingredients in the blender and blend!
